The governmental Agency for Promotion of Private Investment ProInversión announced to advertise the feasibility study for the fourth metro line in Lima in the coming months.
In July the planning competition for the third line was awarded whose result in September has been in favor of a European consortium. According to the current timetable a works contract for both light rail projects should take place in 2016.
Earlier, in the second half of 2015, ProInversión also wants to conclude privatization competition for the railway line Huancayo – Huancavelica in the Andes. However, until now the application date was postponed again and again for this project. The amount of investment required to renew the bond of 128 km is currently being determined. The train is popularly known as "Tren Macho" because "it comes and goes as he pleases". This spring the track also was interrupted for months due to landslide.
For their rail projects Peru will seek advice from the UK. With the country's ambassador in Lima ProInversión signed a memorandum.
